> Flexible Pergola

< I >

A sun terrace is mighty nice. But sometimes there’s to much sun. Or you want the sun but not while your checking your emails. Sunshades are a great solution to this problem but they cast a single shade and are mostly very plastic and metal looking. A pergola is much more cozy and fitting for those lazy summer Sunday afternoon. And that’s just summer-time use. In winter you can’t get on your terrace since it’s to cold or raining. So a roof would be nice if you do want to go outside for a smoke or some fresh air. Which wouldn’t be to impossible since a pergola is made of slanted cross beams. Make them pivot and you practically have a roof. In summer-time this set-up will let you alter the shade. It could even be done automatically with a solar cell on one of the slants and a stepper motor. We are further developing this idea and I hope to have a scaled fully working prototype ready in some weeks.

Special thanks go out to Gaetan Kerckhove for the brainstorming and ideation. Thx mate ;)
